PG 380 Serving Our At-Risk Children
Schedule: 6 weeks, August 20 - September 24
Fees: No cost
Course Description: This class will provide a forum for people to get an overview of the needs in the community, and it will give Foster Parents and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) workers in the community a way to fulfill the required 10 hours of ongoing education per year This 6-week series will be open to foster parents, CASAs, families who may be considering foster parenting, as well as people for the church and community. Instructors: J.P. & Jennifer Thorpe and Darrell & Kari Clase. Jennifer and J.P. Thorpe serve as Foster Care Liasons for Faith Baptist Church. The Thorpes focus on understanding the needs of the community that helps children in need of services. Both J.P. and Jennifer have been licensed foster parents since December 2006, and Jennifer is a trainer of foster parents. Darrell Clase is a Nationally Registered Paramedic with Tippecanoe County Emergency Ambulance Service, has over 20 years experience in pre-hospital emergency medicine, and is a certified instructor in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support and American Heart Association CPR. Kari Clase is a professor at Purdue University and helps in both the college and junior high ministries. Both Darrell and Kari Clase have been Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children for approximately two years, and they currently serve as the leaders for the CASA ministry program at Faith Baptist Church.

PG 255 Dealing with Miscarriage and Infertility
Schedule: 6 weeks, October 15 – November 19
Fees: $6.50 materials cost
Course Description: Wanting a baby can be a very lonely experience when you’re struggling with infertility or miscarriage. Wouldn't it be good to have some help in knowing how to handle it, what to expect, and how to avoid being overwhelmed? This class provides the biblical answers and support you need in the midst of this difficult time.

Instructors: Dr. Dan Wickert, Dr. Amy Baker, and Janet Aucoin. Dan Wickert, M.D., is with Lafayette Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dan also serves as a deacon at Faith. Amy Baker serves as Director of Ministry Resources at Faith. Janet Aucoin, wife of Pastor Brent Aucoin, serves as leader of the Women’s Ministries at Faith.

PG 230 Life After Divorce
Schedule: 6 weeks, October 15 – November 19

Course Description: “How do I handle being alone again?” “How do I relate to my former spouse?” “What does the Bible say about remarriage?” This class is designed to assist people in overcoming the pain, anger, and loneliness of divorce. The course study guide is Life After Divorce, by Robert D. Smith, M.D.

Instructors: Arvid and Edris Olson. Arvid Olson is Faith’s Director of Development; Arvid also serves as a deacon at Faith. Edris Olson is Director of Counseling for Faith Biblical Counseling Ministries.

PG 280 Dealing with Depression
Schedule: 4 weeks, September 17 – October 8
Fees: No cost
Course Description: “Nobody understands my situation!” “Why am I always down?” “Why do I always see the negative in everything?” “I can’t shake these feelings.” If you have had thoughts like these or know somebody who has, you are most likely dealing with a manifestation of depression. Dr. Dan Wickert will be taking a medical and biblical look at tools to help you or a loved one deal with depression.
