Track Selection
All conference guests select one track to attend for the week. While we do not require attendees to select a particular track, we do have two significant recommendations:
- First, if you are new to biblical counseling then we strongly encourage you to attend Track One. In this track we teach the foundational principles and the basic beliefs necessary to function as a biblical counselor.
- Second, we suggest that you take the tracks in order. The only exceptions to this are track 5 (NANC Exam Track) and track 6 (Case Study Track). Since NANC requires the training to be complete before the exams can be graded, we require all guests to attend Track One before taking Track Five.
Track 1 - Foundations
Track 1 begins laying the foundation of biblical counseling principles and practices, family relationships, and the Christian life. It is the foundational track and thus must be taken first. This is the track required for NANC certification.
Track 2 - Adding the Structure I
Tracks 2 and 3 are designed to add the structure to the foundation built in Track 1. Both tracks cover a wide range of subjects and concerns. Tracks 2 and 3 build off Track 1 to complete the all-important counseling framework for the equipped biblical counselor.
Track 3 - Adding the Structure II
Track 3 continues to bring in additional training and topics relevant to the practicing biblical counselor, including the use of case studies.
Track 4 - Advanced Track
This advanced track is designed for those who have taken Tracks 1-3. The array of session topics will vary from year to year according to the relevant counseling issues of the day and the specialties of the instructors.
Track 5 - NANC Certification/Exam track
Since the NANC exams are often a daunting task we have decided to offer one track dedicated solely to the completion of the exams. Students must have had Track 1 from us or from another NANC training center. Not only will lectures be given so that you can understand the core concepts, but time will be given in a computer lab to actually write the exams. If you have a laptop you will want to bring them. Please register early for this track as we expect it will fill quickly.
Track 6 - Case Study Track
Our case study track is designed for those who want some hands-on experience in a non-threatening situation. Each day, the attendees and the facilitator will work together on several cases related to various problems faced by counselors (e.g. marriage counseling). This is an opportunity to interact with experienced counselors so that the principles learned through the counseling training (ideally tracks 1-4) can be applied both to common counseling issues as well as some of the more difficult cases. Approximately 30% of Track 6 was modified in 2010.
