Conference Structure
All conference guests select one track to attend for the week. While we do not require attendees to select a particular track we do have two significant recommendations.
First, if you are new to biblical counseling then we strongly encourage you to attend Track One. In this track we teach the foundational principles and the basic beliefs necessary to function as a biblical counselor.
Second, we suggest that you take the tracks in order. The only exception to this is our tracks 5 (NANC Exam Track) and 6 (Case Study Track). Since NANC requires the training to be complete before the exams can be graded, we require all guests to attend Track One before taking Track Five.
Conference Track Selections
Now that the conference has expanded to six tracks there are many exciting possiblities for training. Tracks 1-4 follow the basic structure that we have used for the past ten year. Each of the these tracks will discuss a wide range of issues. Even though some tracks will have more hours on a particular subject than another, all the tracks are designed in order to train a well-rounded counselor. At the same time, we will continue to use Track Four as a revolving track designed specifically to keep current on important counseling issues. Track 5 was a huge success last year as many folks were able to get significant help on completing the exams NANC requires for certification. For some folks, this help was what they needed to help them climb this important hurdle. Track 6 is a case study track and we have retooled this track a bit in order to make it even better than before. Clicking on the Track number will take you to the current track schedule (Note: first draft schedules will be posted in the summer of 2008).
Track 1 - Foundations.
Track 1 begins laying the foundation of biblical counseling principles and practices, family relationships, and the Christian life. It is the foundational track and thus must be taken first. This is the track required for NANC certification.
Track 2 - Adding to the Structure I
Tracks 2 and 3 are designed to add the structure to the foundation built in Track 1. Both tracks cover a wide range of subjects and concerns. Tracks 2 and 3 build off Track 1 to complete the all-important counseling framework for the equipped biblical counselor.
Track 3 - Adding the Structure II
Track 3 continues to bring in additional training and topics relevant to the practicing biblical counselor, including the use of case studies.
Track 4 - Advanced track.
This advanced track is designed for those who have taken Tracks 1-3. The array of session topics will vary from year to year according to the relevant counseling issues of the day and the specialties of the instructors.
Track 5 - NANC Certification / Exam track.
Since the NANC exams are often a daunting task we have decided to offer one track dedicated solely to the completion of the exams. Students must have had Track 1 from us or from another NANC training center. Not only will lectures be given so that you can understand the core concepts, but time will be given in a computer lab to actually write the exams. If you have a laptop you will want to bring them. Please register early for this track as we expect it will fill quickly.
Track 6 - Case Study Track.
Our case study track is designed for those who want some hands-on experience in a non-threatening situation. Each day, the attendees and the facilitator will work together on several cases related to a particular problem (e.g. marriage counseling). This is an opportunity to interact with experienced counselors so that the principles learned through the counseling training (ideally tracks 1-4) can be applied both to common counseling issues as well as some of the more difficult cases.

Please note: Schedules posted before October 31 are preliminary and will likely change. Once the schedules are set, however, they are not guaranteed. There are occasions when schedules must be modified right before the conference. In addition, there are very rare cases that have required schedule changes during the week of the conference. |
