What is the Skatepark?
The Lafayette Community Skate Park is a 7,500 square foot park that is packed with ramps and obstacles to be enjoyed by skateboarders, bikers, and in-line skaters. The park celebrated its opening day on July 1, 2007 along side the Faith Community Center. The $190,000 project has met a long desired community need and hundreds of area youth have already benefitted from the facility. |

Why Have a Skatepark?
As the population of Greater Lafayette grows, so does the need for wholesome activities for teens. Tippecanoe County, like many counties, has the unfortunate problems of teens drinking, dropping out of school, and involving themselves in other illegal or immpral activities that negatively impact themselves, their families, and our community. A skate park will help teens refocus their time, energy, and skill toward something constructive and beneficial to themselves and the community. |
