Definition: Group of people at Faith Baptist Church who deliberately maintain communication with our missionaries and who strive to communicate the needs of the missionaries to the missions committee or missions director. This group ensures that the responsibilities of FBC are fulfilled toward the missionary.
Team Members: Team membership is made up of those who are interested in the particular missionary or ministry. We encourage participants to serve on at least two teams, one which cares for a missionary in which they have a particular interest and one to which they are assigned. This will help insure that every supported missionary/ministry has a good care team.
Team Leader: The team leader will be responsible for the proper functioning of the team , for coordinating team efforts, communicating with the missions committee and missions director, and keeping up to date on the missionaries needs and the policies for FBC Missionary Care Teams. Contact David Selvey for current team leaders.
Responsibilities: Missionary support extends beyond a monthly check. We believe we have a responsibility to care for and pray for our missionaries. The responsibility is greater for missionaries sent by our congregation than for others we support. Among other things, missionary care teams should:
- Communicate regularly with their missionary.
- Pray regularly and specifically for their missionary.
- Send birthday, anniversary and holiday greetings to their missionary.
- Take care of their missionary when they come to visit. This could be providing lodging and meals, a special lunch with the group, a food drive, a party at which they give the missionary gifts, etc. These should be determined based on the needs of the missionary, not the needs of the team.
- Promote prayer and caring among the congregation for their missionary.
