LS 105 Basic Computer Skills - FULL

Schedule:  4 weeks, March 4 - March 25

Fees: $10.00 to be paid at the FBC office to reserve your place

Course Description:  This class is the first in the series of computer classes and will start with the basics of turning your computer on, learning toolbars, and interacting with all those dialog windows. We will show you how to organize where you save your files so it is easy to find your information. This class will cover the basics of what an operating system does versus how the Office applications may perform. Safely navigating the Internet and finding things you were searching for on the internet will round out the topics discussed in this first series.

Homework:  None

Instructors: Cherry Delaney and Joe Stewart.  Cherry Delaney is Coordinator of Training and Awareness with ITaP Security and Privacy department at Purdue.

LS 115 Basic Microsoft Word - FULL

Schedule:  4 weeks, April 1 - April 22

Fees:  $10.00 to be paid at the FBC office to reserve your place

Course Description:  Learn the basic skills to operate Microsoft Word.

Homework:  None

LS 123 Basic Microsoft Excel - FULL

Schedule:  4 weeks, April 29 - May 20

Fees:  $10.00 to be paid at the FBC office to reserve your place

Course Description:  Learn the basic skills to operate Microsoft Excel.

Homework:  None

Instructors:  Doug Fox and Brian Nicholson.   Doug Fox is the Production Planner at Donaldson Co.  Brian Nicholson has worked as an information technology specialist since 2000, and currently serves as Faith’s IT Manager.

LS 217 Preparing for Job Interviews

Schedule: 3 weeks, March 25 - April 15

Fees:  No Cost

Course Description:  If you are interested in a career change or have recently been laid off due to the economy, this class is an excellent way to brush up your interviewing skills to give you an advantage over the competition.  This class will cover everything from your clothing, to etiquette, to answering those tough interview questions.  Find out what employers are looking for and how you can set yourself apart!

Instructor:  Diane Imel.  Diane Imel is a credit counselor with Debt Doctors in Lafayette and serves in various ministries at Faith.

LS 150 Building a Quality Resume

Schedule:  3 weeks, March 4 - March 18

Fees:  No Cost

Course Description:  This course teaches the purpose of a resume and the different types of resumes.  Participants will learn best practices regarding resume writing.  Time will be allotted for questions and individual resumes will evaluated.

Homework:  2 – 4 hours of homework per week

Instructor:  Lee Morrison.  Lee Morrison is a Residential Life Manager at Purdue University and holds a master's degree in education from Purdue University.

BC 210 Basics of Home Schooling

Schedule:  4 weeks, April 29 – May 20

Fees:  No cost

Course Description:  Gain some insight into the home schooling method of instruction.

Homework:  Simple weekly assignments

Instructors:  Joe and Susan Blake.  Joe Blake serves as Senior Plant Engineer at Eli Lilly and is a deacon at Faith.  Susan is responsible for home schooling their children.
