Adoption Ministry

The Adoption Ministry at Vision of Hope is available to assist in situations when a single pregnant woman living at Vision of Hope or in the Lafayette community has decided that the best choice for her child's future includes growing up in a two-parent, Christ-centered family.

How It Works

Coordinating Adoption

Each single pregnant woman in the program receives complete and unbiased counseling regarding the available choices for her unborn child. If a decision to pursue adoption is made, there are many well-qualified, pre-screened adoptive families from which birth mothers may choose. Additionally, birth mothers living at Vision of Hope may decide to use another Christian adoption agency or may pursue private adoption on their own.

Supporting Choices

The Adoption Ministry supports a wide range of choices for each adoption and believes that each situation is as unique as the individuals involved. Adoptions coordinated through the Vision of Hope Adoption Ministry can be open, semi-open, or closed depending upon the preferences of both the birth mother and the adoption family.

Request an Adoptive Couple

If you are pregnant and considering adoption but you are not a Vision of Hope resident, please complete the Birthparent Information Form and Adoptive Couple Request. When mailing or faxing those documents back into the Vision of Hope office please also include a 1-3 page cover letter explaining your reasons for believing that adoption is your best option.

Apply to Adopt

If you would like to apply to adopt a baby that will be born to an adoption-minded resident at Vision of Hope or from the surrounding Lafayette community please complete the Adoptive Family Information form through the link below.

Completed applications can be mailed or faxed to our office, along with:

  • A 1-3 page "Dear Birthmother" letter describing your reasons for wanting to adopt, your level of interest regarding open adoptions, and any other specifics you feel would be pertinent for a birthmother to know about your family
  • A 5 x 7 photo of your family
  • A letter of recommendation from the pastor of the church where you are a member and regularly attend
  • Contact information for 3-5 personal references with whom you are well acquainted

All Adoption application information will be reviewed and an interview will be scheduled with each potential Adoptive Family. Once Adoptive Families have been approved by the Vision of Hope Adoption Committee, their profiles will be added to the Adoptive Family Bio Binder presented to Birth Mothers once an adoption decision has been reached.
