Hidden In Plain Sight

Course description: If you are a parent and/or work with populations of youth, middle school, high school, college, community service, counseling, or drug/alcohol addiction, this training will help you spot and understand the meaning of codes, symbols, and clues surrounding drug usage. There is a language of drug use hidden in plain sight, that we can decode, to help us be much more effective in identifying and serving people who are enslaved to drugs/alcohol. If you are in education, law enforcement, medicine, counseling, youth or college ministry, or a parent, this training will help you know what is going on in our community and understand party trends, pop culture, music, concealment methods, stash compartments, and much more! In addition, you will learn about the evolution of drugs and trends in drug abuse.

Heather Starkweather has been on staff since 2007. Heather supervises the intake process for each new resident. She also cares for the social services needs of each resident during their entire stay. She coordinates the education, health, and goals for all residents. Heather supervises all the counselors at Vision of Hope. She trains staff and interns and co-counsels with volunteer counselors.
