Course description: This course on the books of Hebrews, James, I & II Peter, I-III John, and Jude provides an overview of the New Testament letters not authored by Paul. This course will address the historical, social, and religious background of the Jewish, Greek, and Roman world in the first century, and discuss key introductory material for each epistle, such as author, date, and audience. Topics included in this course are the Superiority of Christ, a faith that works, the purpose of suffering, responding to false teaching, standing firm in the faith, and evidences of salvation. Students of this course will learn to apply exegetical insights from each epistle, and develop their desire to make the General Epistles the object of intensive and creative study throughout life.

Note: This class meets the requirements toward the NT bible knowledge certificate course.

Note: We will not have class on October 22 due to Fall Break.

David moved to Lafayette in the fall of 2013 to begin studies at Purdue. He began attending Faith West right away. He has been involved in the College ministry at Faith both as a student and a leader after graduating. He has also served on the worship team playing bass guitar and acoustic guitar. He served as a pastoral intern at Faith Church in the 2019 cohort. He currently serves regularly with Faith Community Ministries and the Faith Community Development Corporation. David currently works as a manufacturing engineer at Saab Inc. producing aircraft out of West Lafayette. In his free time, he enjoys playing music, reading, and hiking.
