Course description: This course is an introductory study, analysis, interpretation and application of the contents of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon. Why do bad things happen? How do I engage with God? What is God’s view of marital love? What are the differences between wisdom and folly? These books address questions like these and much more. Topics in this course include the fear of the Lord, living in a fallen world filled with vanity, God’s view of love and marriage, praising God and His Kingdom, and the Sovereignty of God in suffering and our proper response to the Creator and Controller of the Universe. Attention in particular will be given to the books' genres, literary structures, messages and theologies as well as their historical background. The instruction and wisdom presented in the poetic books is extremely practical to a person living in the twenty-first century.

Note: This class meets the requirements toward the OT bible knowledge certificate course.
