Glorification: The Ultimate Finish Line

Romans 8:30 - and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

I. What is Glorification

Tyndale Bible Dictionary – “Glorification is the completion, the consummation, the perfection, the full realization of salvation.”

A. Glorification is about victory

1. Christ demonstrated ultimate victory in his glorification - Ephesians 1:18-23

2. We will share in this victory through our inheritance and glorification with Christ - Romans 8:11, 15, 16-17, 29; 1 Corinthians 15:54-57

B. Glorification is about change

1. Spiritual & Physical changes

a. Entrance spiritually into the presence of the Lord at death

b. Entrance physically into the presence of the Lord at His return - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

2. Details of the Physical change - 1 Corinthians 15:35-57

a. Our bodies will be changed - 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

b. Our bodies will be like Christ’s - 1 Corinthians 15:20, 49

c. Our bodies will go from lame to awesome - 1 Corinthians15:35

C. Glorification is about the New - Romans 8:19-22, Revelation 21:1-8

II. Preparing for Glory

A. Cultivate endurance – Hebrew 12:1-3

B. Cultivate anticipation – 1 Cor. 9:24-27

III. The Hope of Glory – Romans 8:31-39

A. The inheritance of the redeemed is inevitable. (v. 32)

B. The advocate of the redeemed is undefeatable (v. 34)

C. The victory of the redeemed is inescapable (v. 37)
