Our Story
Serving Families Since 1997

Faith Christian School began in 1997 for grades 9-12. Today we serve students from the preschool level (located on two campuses on the East and West sides of Lafayette) to a K through 12 student body of over 600 located in East Lafayette.

Our School History

After years of praying and planning, the membership of Faith Church started Faith Christian School in 1997. The school committee, Pastor Bill Goode, Pastor Steve Viars, Dr. Dan Wickert, and Mr. Dale Davidson, hired Mr. Bob Leffew as school administrator. Mr. Leffew and his wife, Joan, came to FCS with a 21-year history in Christian school administration.

The school opened its first year with 48 students in grades 9-12. Seventh and eighth grades were added in our 2nd year (1998/99), raising the student population to 81. The K3-6th grades were added during the 4th year (2000/01), bringing the total student population to 314.

In August of 2001, Kossuth Street Baptist Church’s Highland Christian School merged with Faith Christian School for the following reasons:

  • To demonstrate love and unity by a public joint venture, honoring God as each church gave up some individuality for the sake of a mutual project.
  • To advance Christian education through an orderly transition of the resources of the two schools.
  • To bear one another’s burdens by helping each other in both short and long term ways.

In order to accommodate the increase in population brought on by the merger (to 491 total students), Faith built a 20,000 sq. ft. addition onto its present facility, allowing for an additional 15 classrooms and the ability to have two sections of each grade.

The Lord has continued to bless FCS by allowing consistent student growth and exceptional faculty, staff, and church leadership who support the school by continuously challenging the school body to grow in love for God and others.
