Pastors

Our pastors provide spiritual leadership for the congregation, and oversight of the church's ministries. Ephesians 4:11-12 states that the pastors are to equip the saints to carry out the work of service in the church.

Steve Viars

B.S. - Bible, Baptist Bible College
M.Div. - Grace Theological Seminary
D.Min. - Westminster Theological Seminary

Pastor Steve Viars has served at Faith Church since 1987.  He and his wife Kris were married in 1982 and they have three children. Pastor Viars’ gifted teaching ministry, enthusiasm for the Word of God, and organizational skills are instrumental in equipping Faith Church.  He oversees the staff, deacons, and all Faith ministries and serves on the boards of Vision of Hope and the Faith Community Development Corporation.

Brent Aucoin

M.S. - Engineering, Purdue University
M.Div. - Central Baptist Seminary
Th.M. - Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
Ph.D. - Baptist Bible Seminary

Pastor Brent Aucoin and his wife, Janet, came on staff in July of 1998.  Pastor Aucoin serves as overseer of Faith Seminary and Soul Care Ministries at Faith Church.

Rob Green

B.S. - Engineering Physics, Ohio State University
M.Div. - Baptist Bible Seminary
Ph.D. - New Testament, Baptist Bible Seminary

Pastor Rob Green and his wife, Stephanie, joined the Faith staff in August, 2005.  Rob’s responsibilities include oversight of the Faith Biblical Counseling Ministry and teaching New Testament at the Faith Bible Seminary. He serves on the council board of the Biblical Counseling Coalition and as a fellow at the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.

Trey Garner

B.F.A. - Musical Theatre, Texas State University
M.F.A. - Acting, Purdue University
M.Min. - Grace Theological Seminary

Pastor Trey Garner joined our staff in 2001. He and his wife Deb were married that year, and they have two children. Trey oversees our Children’s Ministries, which serves infants, toddlers, and K-5th grade students. He also provides pastoral care for our 8:00 a.m. worship service.

Dustin Folden

B.S - Electrical Engineering, Purdue University
M.Div. - Faith Bible Seminary

Pastor Dustin Folden and his wife Trisha joined the Pastoral Staff in 2010. They have two children, Mackenna & Sawyer. They enjoy playing board games, cooking together and going on hiking adventures. Pastor Folden shepherds the 9:30 worship service, oversees the Adult Bible Fellowship ministry, the Wednesday evening Faith Community Institute as well as serves in Faith Biblical Counseling Ministries.

Scott Grass

B.S. - Business Education, Bethel College
M.S. - School Administration, Tennessee Temple University

Scott Grass has been involved with Faith Christian School since it began in 1997.  He is now serving as the Superintendent. He and his wife, Debbie, have been active members of Faith Church since 1990.  Scott also serves as an ABF teacher.

Josh Greiner

BA - Political Science, Purdue University
M.Div. - Faith Bible Seminary
Th.M. - Biblical Counseling, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (in process)

Josh is married to Shana and has three children: Winston, Cecilia, and Lorelai.  Josh oversees the community ministries and centers at Faith Church as well as serves as a service pastor at Faith Church West. He is an ACBC Certified counselor and teaches in Faith’s Biblical Counseling Center. He also sits on the Board of Directors for Faith Community Development Corporation.

Mark Shaw

B.A. - Psychology, University of South Alabama
M.S. - Educational Psychology, The Florida State University
M.A. - Biblical Studies, Birmingham Theological Seminary
D.Min. - Biblical Counseling, Birmingham Theological Seminary

Pastor Mark Shaw and his wife, Mary, relocated to Indiana from Alabama in 2013 in order for him to lead Vision of Hope and Safe Haven. With over two decades of counseling experience working in a variety of settings both secular and faith-based, Pastor Shaw has been addressing issues surrounding “addictions” of all types, and supervising staff for many years. His experience in the biblical counseling field began in 2001, and he is a Certified Biblical Counselor (International Association of Biblical Counselors; Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, Level 2) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (Alabama Association of Drug and Alcohol Abuse).

He has 20 published works including The Heart of Addiction; Relapse: Biblical Prevention Strategies; Divine Intervention: Hope and Help for Families of Addicts; Eating Disorders; Addiction-Proof Parenting; and Hope and Help for Self-Injurers/Cutters. He also co-authored a chapter in Christ-Centered Biblical Counseling (2013) and was co-editor of Paul, the Counselor (2014).

Pastor Shaw leads the ministries of Vision of Hope and Safe Haven, supervises staff and interns, regularly teaches the residents in a classroom setting, and oversees the progress of each resident.

Johnny Kjaer

B.A. - Church Ministries, Maranatha Baptist University
M. DIV. - Faith Bible Seminary

Johnny is married to Tori.  They have 3 children Leif, Tryggve, and Kjirsti.  He has been a part of the youth ministry at Faith since his internship began in 2010.  He has been in the position of Pastor of Student Ministries since 2013.  Johnny is an ACBC certified counselor.  He also serves the church by directing the Lafayette Living Nativity and the Lafayette Passion Play.

Nick Lees

B.S. - Computer Information Technology, Purdue University
M.Div - Faith Bible Seminary

Pastor Nick Lees and his wife, Micaela, have been a part of our staff since Fall 2010.  Nick oversees the College, Wedding and Faith Church West Children’s Ministries, as well as Faith West Ministry Housing.  Nick is also an ACBC certified counselor.  He and Micaela have four daughters, Anniston, Eden, Haddyn and one still in the “oven”.

John Heim

B.M. - Music Theory and Composition, The Master’s College

Pastor John Heim grew up at Faith Church before going to California to study music. Upon graduating, John joined our staff in the spring of 2014. He oversees Faith Worship Ministries, including choir, orchestra, and worship team. He leads worship during our Sunday morning services as well as any evening and special services that are held throughout the year.

Greg Wetterlin

B.S. - Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University
M.Div - Faith Bible Seminary

Pastor Greg Wetterlin and his wife, Erika, joined the Faith staff in July of 2016. Greg’s responsibilities include oversight of Bethany Farm’s men’s ministry and as well as shepherding and teaching in Faith Church.

Aaron Birk

Aaron is Pastor of International Ministries at Faith Church, including Purdue Bible Fellowship. He graduated from Purdue with a B.S. in Accounting and Management in 2013. Aaron is married to his beautiful wife Tirzah and they have a daughter, Zemirah. Aaron loves to lead college Bible studies with his wife, enjoys counseling and teaching from God's word, and loves to serve college students by helping students know the surpassing joy of following Jesus and pleasing Him for the rest of their lives.

Stefan Nitzschke

B.S. - Management Information Systems, Iowa State University 
M.Div. - Faith Bible Seminary

Stefan is married to Alexandra and they have two sons – Judah and Israel. He and his family live in the Northend of Lafayette, where he also serves as a Pastor of Northend Ministries and helps oversee the Hartford Hub. Stefan is certified as a biblical counselor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and is a board member of Faith’s Community Development Corporation. He has a heart for evangelism and discipleship, specifically though the process of biblical counseling.

Joey Wright

B.A. - History, Purdue University
M.Div. - Faith Bible Seminary

Joey and his wife, Cara, joined the Faith staff in July, 2016.They have one daughter, Eliora, and live on the north side of downtown Lafayette. Joey is one of our the Pastors of Northside Ministries, is a certified counselor with Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, and serves on the Faith Community Development Corporation's board.

Newton Pena

Pastor of Counseling and Hispanic Ministries at Faith Church; ACBC Certified Counselor; Instructor and Counselor at FBCM.

Deacons

As in the early church, our deacons are charged with serving the congregation. Each deacon serves a group of families within the church, providing both accountability and support for the members. Deacons also meet monthly with the pastors for making plans, decisions, and recommendations regarding the church and its ministries.
