MABC courses will be offered every spring, summer, and winter semester. Since different courses will be offered during the two semesters, students can make fast progress on the degree. At the same time, the course offerings provide students a wide variety of choices to accommodate their schedules. It is best to plan your entire program from the beginning in order to accomplish your degree as quickly as possible and to ensure that course offerings and your proposed schedule match.
Spring Semester: Each spring there will be both online and module classes offered. Syllabi for the spring will be available in the middle of April. Course work will begin near the end of April for both online courses, as well as courses that require the week of residency classes. Internal residency weeks will occur in late June and early July. Each spring course will end approximately by the first week of August. The professor for each course will be given some level of flexibility in his or her course schedule. Please see the syllabi for details regarding your course requirements.
Summer Semester: Each summer only online classes offered. Course work will begin near the end of August. Each summer course will end approximately by the last week of October. The professor for each course will be given some level of flexibility in his or her course schedule. Please see the syllabi for details regarding your course requirements.
Winter Semester: Each winter there will be both online and module courses offered. Syllabi for the winter courses will be available November 1 with course work beginning in mid-November, allowing for 2 holiday weeks off. The internal residency weeks will occur in mid-January, and the semester will conclude around the first week of March. Professors have some flexibility regarding the dates and assignments for the particular courses taught.
FBS offers both modular and online classes. Because module classes are 15 weeks long and online classes are 8 weeks long, scheduling can be difficult. However, a major advantage to the student is that they can take three classes per semester but never do more than two concurrently. Below is a sample of what each academic year will look like.
For courses that have "Module Course" listed as the format type, there will be approximately 31 hours of instruction for the week of internal residency on our campus in Lafayette. While the professor of the course will ultimately set the schedule, a sample residency week would be as follows:
